Writer/filmmaker Robert E. Penn is a visual storyteller who loves technology. Penn’s corporate video productions include digital content for numerous educational and performing arts sites. His documentary “Art from Adversity” premièred in June 2011. Penn’s cinematography for Kewulay Kamara’s film about Sierra Leone screened in April 2011. He created theatrical video projections for Ronald K. Brown’s 2011 dance “On Earth Together” and Brian Freeman’s 2010 revival of satire “Fierce Love.” Penn produced and directed six Public Service Announcements promoting HIV-testing for New Jersey’s 2010 “Status is Everything” campaign. His story “Learning to Speak Heterosexual” appears in Voices Rising, Redbone Press, 2007. New York State Council on the Arts awarded Penn a 2006 Individual Artist Grant in Film and Video/New Media Technologies.
