In-house Sony digital cameras record to DVCAM broadcast tape, as well as, mini-DV. Audio equipment includes an assortment of Sennheiser, Shure and Sony microphones designed for recording interviews, reality shoots and music. The company owns a Shure field audio mixer, as well as, on-camera and studio lights. For large or complex assignments, Robert Penn productions rents supplementary gear and studio space.

The Mac at the heart of the edit suite accepts Firewire, analog and SDI input/outputs. Final Cut Studio software assures an integrated workflow from capturing media to fine tuning audio and color of the final cut to creating DVD menus and sub-menus. Each assignment is preserved on broadcast-quality master DVCAM tape and clients receive a DVD dupe for informal viewing.

Robert Penn productions maintains excellent working relations with specialists, such as colorists, sound editors and graphic artists, hiring additional post-production services as needed.

DVD remains the most popular digital film medium. Each standard disc holds up to two hours of edited footage. Robert Penn productions takes media from many video sources, such as VHS, Beta SP, mini-DV, DVCAM into Final Cut Pro for edit, titles/effects, color corrections, etc. before exporting the digital content to DVD Studio Pro.

The company's comprehensive DVD design capabilities range from burning source footage onto DVDs that start automatically once inserted in a player to creating DVDs that utilize complex menu and sub-menu interfaces that allow viewers to randomly access specific clips and sub-clips.

We can supply a few DVD copies of the client's dance concert for personal and fundraising use or 20,000 DVD duplicates of digital content for public distribution.

Using Final Cut Pro, Quick Time Conversion, Cleaner 6.5 and other software, Robert Penn prepares shorts for servers, websites, blogs, Internet streaming and FTP downloads. Each Internet film is customized to suit the client's objective, e.g. story and style; and technical requirements, such as, dimensions, resolution, bandwidth and overall file size.
